Well, shit.

I forgot that the anniversary of my first post happened this early into the year, and forgetfulness left me with only two-ish weeks to find a way to celebrate the occasion. I couldn’t allow that to pass, largely because I’m surprised that I’d make it a single year without huge gaps between posts. That’s what happened when I tried the blogging thing before, and this blog stood a good chance of suffering a similar fate.

Since 2013, Fire Emblem has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity that allowed the series to overcome the threat of cancellation and sell millions of units. Nintendo even (temporarily) revived the original Fire Emblem for an official English localization to celebrate its 30th anniversary, which seemed maddeningly unlikely less than a decade ago.

The amount of games in the Fire Emblem franchise is nothing to scoff at, especially with a portion of them still unavailable outside Japan. Hopefully this article helps inform newcomers and veterans alike of the numerous Fire Emblem games, along with related titles and cameos.

A Brief Intro to Intelligent Systems

Nintendo created Donkey Kong out of desperation. Their American warehouse contained 2,000 unsold Radar Scope arcade cabinets after believing that it would be a major hit in the United States. So, having only sold a third of their total 3,000 units, Nintendo needed a solution to rid themselves of the undesirable Radar Scope without taking a loss. Miraculously, they found one that accomplished that and so much more.

The solution was Donkey Kong, created by a young Nintendo employee named Shigeru Miyamoto. However, thanks to certain decisions, DK led to legal repercussions that continued haunting the company for nine years. Even so, there was a silver lining: those same decisions resulted in a new, talented developer: Intelligent Systems.
